My husband is from the South, and the South knows how to do biscuits.\u00a0 At every potluck (and there are many!) you have a basket of biscuits lovingly mixed and prepared in Grandma’s kitchen infused with the soul of every southern ancestor in the bloodline.\u00a0 Everyone’s grandma has a recipe handed down from their grandma that was handed down from their grandma and what you end up with is a buttery, flaky, chewy in all the right ways sent-from-Jesus biscuit.<\/p>\n

That’s not this recipe.<\/p>\n

This Breakfast Biscuit Sandwich recipe is one for the common folk.\u00a0 It requires no southern witchcraft or bloodline rite of passage.\u00a0 But it’s goooooood.\u00a0 And easy.\u00a0 And makes a fun breakfast-for-dinner meal.\u00a0 My family is partial to bacon, egg and cheese but the sky’s the limit as to what ingredients you stack up inside the sandwich.\u00a0 Frankly, we’d eat gravel inside this delicious biscuit.<\/p>\n

Breakfast Biscuit Sandwich<\/h2>\n

Ingredients<\/h3>\n

Biscuit (Recipe makes 10-12)
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n
• 2 cups all purpose flour<\/li>\n
• 1 Tbs baking powder<\/li>\n
• 1\/2 tsp salt<\/li>\n
• 1\/2 cup cold butter<\/li>\n
• 3\/4 cup milk<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

  Sandwich<\/strong><\/p>\n

  \n
  • precooked bacon, Canadian bacon, sausage patties<\/li>\n
  • eggs (fried or scrambled into individual servings)<\/li>\n
  • sliced cheese<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Directions<\/h3>\n

    \n
    1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees.<\/li>\n
    2. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt in large mixing bowl.\u00a0 Grate in butter using hand grater.\u00a0 (**This is key.\u00a0 Grated butter produces a much flakier biscuit due to the butter to dry ingredient ratio mix. And it makes incorporating a breeze. Trust.)\u00a0 <\/strong>Mix with fork until mixture resembles course crumbs.<\/li>\n
    3. Add in milk to mixture and stir until dough is soft and begins pulling away from sides of bowl.<\/li>\n
    4. Turn dough out onto floured surface and sprinkle with additional flour until dough is no longer sticky.\u00a0 Roll out into approx 1\/2 inch thick rectangle and cut out biscuits with cookie cutter.<\/li>\n
    5. Place biscuits on ungreased cookie sheet and bake until golden brown, approximately 10 minutes.<\/li>\n
    6. To assemble sandwiches<\/em>; slice each biscuit in half and stack desired ingredients on the bottom half.\u00a0 Cover with the top half and place back in warm oven for just a minute or two to melt the cheese or heat the ingredients.<\/li>\n
    7. Eat.\u00a0 And thank God for whoever invented the Breakfast Biscuit Sandwich.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
